Overview
This webinar will explore practical reconstructive options following challenging surgical excisions for cancer in small animal patients. We’ll cover decision-making around when to allow second intention healing versus pursuing surgical closure, and how to optimise outcomes in each case. Techniques discussed will include local advancement and transposition flaps for small to moderate defects, as well as an introduction to basic axial pattern flaps such as the caudal superficial epigastric and thoracodorsal flaps, which can be game-changers for closing larger or more anatomically demanding wounds. The focus will be on straightforward, reproducible techniques that general practitioners and specialists alike can apply in everyday practice.
