Alicia Kennedy, the recipient of the 2023 Veterinary Business Thought Leader Award, embodies the essence of a catalyst for positive transformation within the veterinary profession. Over the course of the past seven years, Alicia has shown remarkable thought leadership by pioneering an unconventional approach to veterinary care, directly addressing critical industry challenges.
Her creation of Veterinary Social Work, an emerging interdisciplinary field bridging human health and animal welfare, has blossomed into a pivotal resource for veterinary teams. Importantly, her approach aligns with the three pillars of the AVA's Thrive program: Protect, Prevent, Promote.
What truly distinguishes Alicia is her unwavering commitment to making the joys of healthy companion pets and the flourishing human-animal bond accessible to all. Her exceptional ability to identify and tap into previously unnoticed funding channels ensures that veterinary care extends its reach to the often-overlooked "bottom 20%" of the population.
