AVA member Dr Kate Toyer has won the PrideVMC 2023 Leadership Award. Kate is a trans woman, veterinarian and activist who strongly advocates for the LGBTQ+ community in Australia. She is a co-founder of Australian Rainbow Vets & Allies and a founder of the Veterinary Kaleidoscope podcast. Earlier this year, Kate also convened the inaugural Veterinary Kaleidoscope Summit, which the AVA attended.

The Pride Veterinary Medical Community (PrideVMC) was founded by a group of veterinarians more than 30 years ago. Their mission is to create a better world for the LGBTQ+ veterinary community.

The PrideVMC Leadership Award recognises “individuals who actively support PrideVMC’s mission to create a better world for the LGBTQ+ veterinary community and vision of an empowered LGBTQ+ veterinary community that is embraced by society as their authentic selves.”

The AVA congratulates Kate on her incredible achievement.
