Inquiry into the use of primate and other animals in medical research in NSW

The NSW Upper House is conducting an inquiry that is examining and will report on the use of primates and other animals in medical research in NSW.

The AVA has provided a submission to the NSW Upper House inquiry into the use of primates and other animals in medical research in NSW. The AVA submission makes a number of recommendations to the inquiry and provides comment on each of the inquiries' terms of reference.

This submission was developed following consultation with the NSW Division Committee and relevant AVA Special Interest Groups, and drew from existing AVA policies including:

• Animal experimentation
• Role of veterinarians in the care and use of animals for scientific purposes
