Dr Alistair Webb has been announced as the new AVA President after Dr Bronwyn Orr stepped down from her presidency role last week.
Dr Webb has been actively involved in the AVA for more than 25 years, since becoming a student member while studying veterinary science at the University of Queensland. He has served at Branch, Division and Special Interest Group levels, and was previously the President of Australian Small Animal Veterinarians.

Dr Webb is the principal of Rangeside Veterinarians, a small animal practice in Toowomba, Queensland. He is also a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Feline Medicine and Deputy Chair of the University of Southern Queensland Animal Ethics Committee.
“It is my absolute honour to be elected to be the President of the AVA,” Dr Webb says. “I am totally committed to advancing the Association and the veterinary profession. There are many wonderful AVA projects that are being developed, such as the THRIVE Wellness Initiative and AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner (CVP) accreditation program, and I am passionate about ensuring they become embedded in the DNA of the Association. My aspiration is to lead and set the tone for the association by following three simple virtues – effective communication, encouraging collaboration and behaving with civility."
