AVA Policy Council 2022 - ratified policies

The AVA’s Policy Advisory Council met in May 2022 for their annual meeting where they considered a total of 21 draft new policies and updates.

The four policies below were voted to progress to the Board for ratification. This occurred at the AVA Board meeting on the 15 July. We are very grateful to the members who put so much work into these policies, all of which help to provide member guidance and inform our advocacy work.

• Medication of dogs and cats for air transport (ava.com.au) (new)

A further 7 pre-final drafts were voted to progress to member comment, and are currently accessible in the Forum:

• Great veterinary workplaces (new)
• Australian National Centres for Disease Control (CDC) (new)
• Surgical artificial insemination in dogs (new)
• Use of medicinal cannabis in animals (new)
• Cattle spaying (update) 
• Waterfowl hunting (update)
• Use of whips on horses at competitive events (update)
