Safe Work Australia's Return to Work communication guide for supervisors in small and medium businesses
17 Nov 2022
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), of which the AVA is a member, has released a Return to Work communication guide for supervisors and small and medium businesses.
As an initiative under the National Return to Work Strategy 2020-2030, Safe Work Australia (SWA) collaborated with the Behavioural Economics Team of the Australian Government (BETA) to create a return to work communication guide to help supervisors in small and medium businesses face the challenges that occur when one of their workers suffers a workplace injury or illness.
Managing the relationship with an injured or ill worker during return to work: A guide for supervisors in small and medium businesses focuses on the relationship between the supervisor and the injured or ill worker across four key stages of the return to work process:
- When the worker is first injured or falls ill
- While they are away from work
- As they prepare to return to work
- When they return to work.
It includes conversation starters, discussion tips and templates and is designed to help supervisors support and stay in touch with injured or ill workers during their return to work.
