Update: changes to AVA office locations

25 Mar 2022

The AVA has for many years had permanent office locations in a number of states. During the pandemic and the associated move to working from home for all staff, it has become clear that the need for a physical office in every state is no longer necessary. We are fortunate to have sophisticated IT systems which allow staff to work remotely. With this in mind, and to ensure the best use of our financial resources, it has been decided that we no longer need a permanent office in Queensland, Western Australia or South Australia. The staff numbers in all these locations are very small and they are happy to work from home.

The Queensland office was previously owned by the AVA but was sold in 2019. We have been renting since then. The space is beyond requirements, and we have decided not to extend the lease when it comes due in September. We are looking at new arrangements that better suit our needs, and members will be informed in due course. The offices in WA and SA are still owned by the AVA. The Board has decided not to sell these at this time, but to rent them as an income generating move.

The Sydney office is owned by the AVA. We will soon be moving to a hybrid working arrangement whereby the Sydney based staff are in the office at least two days per week, with all in on Monday and Tuesday, which will help facilitate cross department collaboration. However, with hybrid working arrangements likely to be the future it is clear the space is probably too big for our needs. Options about the long-term location of the Sydney office are under consideration, but you can be assured we will maintain a physical presence as a ‘home’ for the AVA.
