Veterinarians receive Australia Day Honours
28 Jan 2022
The AVA congratulates two members of our profession who have been recognised in this year’s Australia Day Honours list.
Dr Robert Johnson was awarded an AM for significant service to veterinary science and to professional societies. In addition to being a past president of the AVA, Dr Johnson AM chairs the NSW Department of Primary Industries Stock Welfare Panel, is a director of the charity Vets Beyond Borders, and has contributed significantly to the field of zoo and wildlife medicine.
Dr Arthur Charles Webster was also awarded an AM for significant services to veterinary science, business and the tertiary education sector in Australia. Dr Webster AM is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Sydney and has conducted aid projects in various countries including Nepal and Bangladesh. He also helped to pioneer the Canine Parvovirus vaccine, as well as vaccines that produced Australia’s first disease-free commercial poultry flock.
Congratulations once again to both Dr Johnson AM and Dr Webster AM for this huge achievement!
