AVA Presidents Column

I hope you had a restful Easter break. As we move through April, much of our focus has been on future planning to ensure the AVA continues to meet the evolving needs of our members.  

Dr Colgan provides an update on AVA advocacy work, membership fees and a successful corporate supporter briefing event held this week.

Dr Colgan reflects on the highlights of 2024 including advancing constitutional reforms, strengthening advocacy, and increasing engagement with members through surveys and forums to shape the strategic direction for 2025-2028.

Dr Colgan highlights two important AVA initiatives and connects with our regional neighbours on issues including workforce shortages and continuing professional development.

A highlight this month was connecting with colleagues in the UK to exchange insights, deepen my understanding of the unique challenges they face, and gain a greater appreciation for their extensive advocacy efforts.
