AVA to contribute AMR resources to global repository

As part of ongoing efforts to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promote best practices in animal health, the World Veterinary Association (WVA) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) are updating the Global Repository of Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Antimicrobials in Animal Health.
This repository, first established in 2018, serves as a crucial resource to share best practices and guidelines for the responsible use of antimicrobials.
The AVA is actively involved in fighting AMR, with an array of guidelines, codes of practice and policies and will contribute updated resources to the WVA/WOAH repository. Contributions can also be made directly to WVA/WOAH via the survey page by 7 March 2025.
In 2017 the AVA embarked on a joint project with Animal Medicines Australia, to develop best-practice prescribing guidelines for horses and livestock species. In early 2025, new Equine Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines will join the AVA’s existing suite of essential resources for practitioners:
