Content Developer and Course Teacher - AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner
04 Sep 2025The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is seeking a motivated professional to develop and deliver engaging online course modules ensuring content is clear, interactive, and aligned with learning objectives.
Key responsibilities include creating instructional materials, facilitating online discussions, supporting student engagement, and evaluating assessments to provide timely, constructive feedback.
This paid opportunity is for content focused on the practical application and professional handling of: veterinary ethical and legal challenges; errors and complications; and animal welfare issues. The content is aimed at small animal general practitioners wishing to enhance their current knowledge and skills. The content contributes to the Legal and Ethical Foundations for Veterinarians course which is part of the AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner® professional accreditation program.
Desired attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and reviewing academic programs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, learning outcomes, and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and experience in delivery of high-quality postgraduate veterinary teaching including online.
- Highly developed communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work with people promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Veterinary degree recognised in Australia.
- Demonstrated experience working as a veterinary practitioner.
- Post-graduate qualifications in veterinary medicine and/or education.
- Demonstrable alignment with the AVA’s mission, values and culture.
- Right to live and work in Australia.
- AVA membership highly regarded.
The successful candidate will need to be able to devote time to:
- Develop and record 6 modules of content prior to 13 April 2026.
- Develop 2 assessment questions prior to 13 April 2026.
- Oversee 6 modules and mark 2 assessments during an allocated teaching schedule from 13 July to 11 September 2026.
- Prepare and facilitate 3 live Zoom sessions during the allocated times.
- Attend 1-2 course teaching team meetings during course development period.
This role works closely with the AVA CVP Course Coordinator, AVA CVP Executive Officer, and AVA CVP Academic Program Director.
