Chicken ILT case confirmed in Brisbane
15 Feb 2023Biosecurity Queensland have advised on 15th February 2023 that a chicken from a community garden at north Brisbane has tested positive for infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) virus by PCR.
The bird was observed with upper respiratory signs and had contact with feral pigeons. AIV, NDV and PPMV-1 had been excluded.
Another chicken from a small backyard flock on a Brisbane property has subsequently tested positive for infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) virus by PCR from a swab sample. The chicken showed clinical signs of periorbital swelling, ocular/nasal discharge and caseous pus at the back of the throat. No information is available on ILT vaccination history.
