QLD Division President's Report- June 2024

04 Jun 2024

I hope this update finds everyone well and reinvigorated after the National Conference.

I am currently overseas undertaking the last part of my Nuffield Scholarship travel - focusing on biosecurity attitudes and culture within livestock production industries internationally and domestically. As I write this, I have finished up travel in Brazil and the United Kingdom and heading to Indonesia to learn more from international counterparts. I look forward to returning to share these insights.

While I have been away, the AVA National Conference has been and gone - I hope everyone who attended has returned filled with new knowledge, ideas and connections. I would like to thank Alistair Webb, who attended the Council of Presidents on my behalf to ensure the Queensland Division members were fully represented.

A reminder to our division members of our following in person events this year including;

  • The Darling Downs & Brisbane Veterinary Practitioners Branch - 2024 Roma Round Up in July
  • South East Queensland (SEQ) Branch Meeting 2024 - The Role of Plasma Therapy in Patient Care in August
  • Far North, North and Central Queensland Branches 2024 Conference "Cutting our Way into the Future" - Tinaroo in August

I would highly encourage members to attend events in their regions, and if you have any questions or suggestions for future events please do reach out to any of the committee.

Currently we have seats on our QLD AVA committee that we are looking to fill with members who have a passion for moving this industry forward, developing relationships and working on a variety of advocacy projects. There is a time commitment of attendance at the bi-monthly meetings (online), providing feedback via email and further involvement in projects that are available.

I invite veterinarians from all backgrounds and experience levels to contact me with an expression of interest. I look forward to working with others who are passionate about our industry.

 As always I am happy to speak with members on QLD AVA matters, or if you have any feedback or suggestions for us going forward.

Your colleague,

Dr Regan Lynch
