Members of the QLD Committee and the Advocacy team are meeting regularly with BQ to progress a proposed pilot for subsidised transport fees to send lab samples for EAD exclusion. This has included conducting a survey on behalf of BQ to obtain data to support this pilot project. Discussions have also extended to how BQ can enhance its communications methods with veterinary practitioners for all BQ and DAFQ matters.
A targeted campaign to QLD Senator and Federal Minister for Agriculture, Murray Watt to address support for rural and regional vets has also been commenced. We have sought input from QLD members, both for them to directly interact with the media and to provide information for this campaign.
The AVA’s Senior Advocacy Officer for QLD will be meeting with VSBQ’s Registrar and BQ’s Animal Biosecurity & Welfare Director in May to discuss matters relevant to QLD members.
