Did you know?
❓ Approximately half of dogs tested in Sydney have the dog erythrocyte antigen 1 blood type? (so blood typing is recommended in all canine blood donors and recipients to prevent immunologic transfusion reactions)
❓ CHOP-based chemotherapy did not alter renal parameters in 30 dogs during a 2 week course? (CHOP protocols include vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, prednisolone)
❓ Client financial limitations are a common and significant source of moral conflict for veterinarians in practice, particularly in decisions about care and euthanasia?
❓ Ann Quain and colleagues have presented a simple framework for categorising error reports during M&M rounds which can facilitate information sharing and improved patient safety without compromising confidentiality (see free to view open access paper in this month’s issue)
Find out this and more in this month’s Australian Veterinary Journal (login and select ‘Latest Issue’, Volume 103, Issue 5, May 2025) which showcases 10 papers across small animals, education, ethics and welfare and production animals, and features a focus on small animal medicine.
