AVA Responds to APVMA’s Draft Strategic Plan

30 Apr 2025

The AVA has lodged a detailed submission on the APVMA’s draft Strategic Plan 2025–30, supporting its emphasis on transparency, regulatory agility, and future preparedness. Our submission recommends expanding APVMA oversight to include compounded veterinary medicines, strengthening minor use and permit pathways, and improving supply chain resilience for critical therapeutics. We also called for greater harmonisation of medicines regulation nationally, clearer terminology, and stronger collaboration between the APVMA and the TGA. Workforce capability development, including targeted veterinary recruitment, was also highlighted as vital for future success. We look forward to working closely with the APVMA to ensure a fit-for-purpose, trusted regulatory system that protects animal health and welfare.
