AVA Submission – Victorian Domestic Animals Regulations 2025

02 Sep 2025

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) has provided a submission on the draft Domestic Animals Regulations 2025. Our feedback highlights the importance of clear, practical regulations that improve animal welfare, support responsible pet ownership, and reduce unnecessary burdens on veterinary practices.

This follows face-to-face consultation with the Victorian Government earlier this year, where we outlined key reforms to strengthen breeder and pet sale standards, improve traceability through centralised microchip registries, and ensure veterinarians can continue to focus on providing high-quality clinical care.

The AVA looks forward to ongoing engagement with the Victorian Government to ensure these regulations deliver strong and effective outcomes for animals, their owners, and the wider community.
