AVA Submission into Draft Professional Practice Standards

The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is in the process of reviewing their Professional Practice Standards. These have important implications for the veterinary profession (in particular, issues around the compounding of veterinary medicine).

The draft Standards focus on human medicine, however there are quite different contexts and legal considerations when it comes to veterinary compounding. So it was important that the AVA provided feedback to ensure the veterinary context was adequately captured. You can read the submission here.

Over the past year we have also been working with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA) on the review of their ‘Guidelines on compounding of medicines’, to provide the veterinary context, and more information will be available on this soon.
