AVA Submission on the Draft Queensland Code of Professional Conduct
21 May 2022The Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board are consulting with the profession on a new draft Code of Professional Conduct. The AVA made this formal submission.
One of the functions of veterinary boards is to prepare or endorse codes of conduct and professional standards for veterinary practitioners. To assist in consistency across the country, State and Territory legislation and Boards should refer to the AVA Code of Professional Conduct to provide veterinarians with guidance as to what would constitute unprofessional conduct.
Historically the Board and the Profession in Queensland has used the AVA Code of Professional Conduct, and it has served the profession well. It also ensures that the document is regularly reviewed and remains in alignment with current professional practice. As such, it is the recommendation of the AVA that this practice continues.
