TAS Division President's Article- May 2024

01 May 2024

Don’t blink or you may miss the first half of 2024. The year continues to speed by, with everyday getting busier! But with the cooler weather comes all the conferences.

Starting with the national AVA conference at the end of May in Melbourne, then smaller conferences in some states. This year we have made the decision to bring forward the Tasmanian conference to hopefully increase attendance. This year the conference will be on the 13th to 15th of September at the Country Club in Launceston.

I encourage all our local members to attend, and bring along your nursing staff and other veterinarians. There have been a lot of changes both within the AVA and the profession over the last 4 years since COVID, and we need to show that we are still as keen as ever to keep our local conference going. This is one of the situations where you need to show up and put bums on seats, or we may have to change how this event is run over the coming years.

At the conference, I will be talking to all the northern vets in order to set up our Northern Tasmanian branch (and hopefully a North-West branch if we can!). This is essential if we would like to have ongoing local CPD of a high standard within our amazing state. We all need to work together to keep our profession exciting and united!! I can’t wait to see you all there and catch up.

Thanks,

Dr Rhianna Booth
