As Dr Mark Schipp retires after a 30-year tenure with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, with appreciation we acknowledge his remarkable contribution to the profession and animal health both domestically and internationally.

Dr Schipp has had a varied career, as outlined in his farewell message. He has been  instrumental in building the capacity of the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO). During his tenure he had a focus on biosecurity, One Health, AMR, international engagement in the Pacific and south-east Asia, as well as being a strong advocate for the veterinary profession.

Dr Schipp has been a wonderful role model and inspired many veterinarians to consider the public service as a career path by showing the profession how versatile a veterinary degree can be.

On behalf of all AVA members we wish Dr Schipp the very best for his retirement. We are thrilled that he will continue to be involved with the AVA by being the AVA representative on the Commonwealth Veterinary Association.
