VIC MAV/AVA Cat and Dog Reduced Fee Desexing Voucher Scheme

Although the AVA is supportive of mechanisms to provide no-or low-cost animal health services to increase public compliance, the Victorian Division of AVA believes the burden of discounted services the context of current and emerging financial, workforce and mental health challenges of the veterinary profession needs to be more equitably shared across the community: to balance the substantial benefits that individuals and the community receive from healthy pets in most Australian homes.

For these reasons the Victorian Division Executive Committee determined that the current Scheme which requires financial contribution by the veterinarian, was no longer one that the AVA could support and it concluded in 31st December 2022.
