VIC University of Melbourne, DVM3 Clinical Commencement Ceremony

21 Oct 2022

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) wishes to thank the University Of Melbourne Veterinary School for organising the DVM3 Clinical Commencement Ceremony. It was a lovely celebration of a milestone in veterinary student education acknowledging the significant investment that veterinary students make throughout their training, particularly after the years of impact and isolation through Covid-19, is indeed worthy of recognition and was suitably honoured yesterday.

To support the students, the AVA co-sponsors the infamous 'Scrub Tops', symbolic of the students entering clinical placement. Additionally, Dr Cathy Deague, AVA Victorian Division Executive Committee Member gave a warm, welcoming and insightful address to the students. She explained the versatility of their degree, the choices and paths that lie ahead and importantly, the support that AVA will always provide.

Thank you to Prof Slater, A Prof Beggs, Mr Aaron Hughes and Ms Shirley Treloar for the organisation required to provide such a lovely function and the kind words to welcome AVA to be a part of it.

The relationship that the AVA holds with the University is important for support of both veterinary students and veterinarians.

However, the relationship between the two bodies extends further than a support on behalf of the professional organisation, but fosters a relationship of true recognition and understanding from veterinarians to students of the hard work and dedication required to join the profession, which stems from the fond memories that veterinarians hold for the precious and somewhat gruelling time we spent at university as veterinary students.

Thank you for your kind words in relaying the support that AVA will always provide to veterinarians and students and congratulations to the students and staff from the University of Melbourne Veterinary School for your achievements to make this possible.
