VIC UPDATE Melbourne University – Proposed changes to U-Vet Animal Hospital

We understand the investment that veterinarians and students, have made in education and career and the reliance of the community on veterinary services to care for their animals.

Veterinarians, students and the community have a range of concerns and AVA understands that there will likely be impact from these changes, particularly with the potential loss of a university teaching hospital.

It is important that the University communicates clearly with the profession, staff and student body and the AVA are actively offering to assist in this process.

We have requested further information from the University of Melbourne in addtion to what was provided on 9th November 2022.

AVA understands that consultation with university staff is occurring and there is not a public statement on the University of Melbourne website.

The university has informed us that more formal communication will occur later and that there is a U-Vet Facebook page with a link to a form that people can submit feedback.

We encourage veterinarians, students and the community to share their questions, thoughts and concerns with the University and AVA will keep the veterinary community advised of communications through the AVA website and direct communications.
