VIC Veterinarians to participate in regional workshops for Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria - February 2023
24 Nov 2022A new Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria is in development, and due for completion by June 2023. The new Strategy will define the future direction of biosecurity in Victoria, and AgVic are working with stakeholder groups across the state to ensure the Strategy ‘hits the mark’.
It’s intended as a system-wide strategy, covering the wide range of sectors, industries and groups with roles in biosecurity. With rural and regional vets at the frontline of managing very specific and challenging biosecurity risks, we’re keen to test the draft Strategy with people involved in this sector.
We’re running a series of up to five regional workshops in February 2023 (dates and venues to be confirmed). The intent is to reach a broad audience of biosecurity ‘practitioners’ to ensure we have a good representation of people dealing with different aspects of biosecurity across Victoria.
The objectives of the workshop are to help shape the Victorian Biosecurity Strategy by:
- Understanding your perspective on how well biosecurity risks are currently managed
- Testing the levels of support for various elements of reform and improvement in biosecurity
- Identifying specific, tangible ways we can deliver a better biosecurity system.
