Important Information for WA Veterinary Practitioners: Amendments to the Veterinary Practice Regulations

Following the release of the amended Veterinary Practice Regulations 2022 on 12 June 2025, an overview of key changes and provisions is being produced by the AVA Advocacy Team.

When finalised, this will draw attention to areas the AVA believes are particularly relevant for WA veterinary practitioners and is intended to raise awareness and provide general guidance only.

We strongly encourage all veterinarians and veterinary nurses to review the full amendments and the published Regulations to ensure a comprehensive understanding.

The Veterinary Practice Board (VPB) of WA have advised that they will be issuing further information on the amended Regulations. The AVA will also be seeking clarification on several provisions to support their practical interpretation and implementation.

Our focus now turns to working constructively and collaboratively with the VPB as it undertakes the important task of reviewing and developing accompanying guidelines to support the application of the updated Regulations.
