AVA Annual Conference – not just a conference, it’s a community

As a member organisation, the AVA relies on members like you to tell us what we’re doing right – and what we could be doing better. Active members make a real difference to AVA operations and strategic priorities, so it is vital that your voice is heard. Vote on important operational and constitutional matters at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), find out about the year that was, and learn about plans for 2024 and beyond. The AGM is your chance to have your say in the first stage of AVA Constitutional changes. United, we can make a real impact on the veterinary profession and beyond.

The AGM will be held on Monday 29 May, from 4-5pm. Register to ensure that your votes count.

Find out how the AVA is representing you, its members and the broader profession at the Member Forum. This is your opportunity to hear what is happening in your association, and to have a say in its future operations and advocacy. It is also an important opportunity to ask your specific questions to members of the AVA Board, so bring them along.

The Member Forum will be held on Thursday 1 June, from 4.30-6pm, following afternoon tea.

The AVA Annual Conference also features an array of speakers discussing topics relevant to you, as well as a chance to network with colleagues from around the country. Come along to the Monday Plenary session to hear the 2022 Gilruth Prize winner Kersti Seksel give her oration prior to the International Workforce Challenges Panel.

Celebrate with colleagues at the Gala Dinner and Awards Night, the social highlight of the AVA Annual Conference. Always glamorous and a lot of fun, this is the chance for you to frock up and let your hair down after a week of learning. We will also announce and celebrate the AVA Award winners, including the 2023 winner of the prestigious Gilruth Prize.

This year’s “Winter Wonderland” themed dinner is held in the Panorama Rooms at the Adelaide Convention Centre on the first day of winter: Thursday June 1 from 7pm. Enjoy welcome drinks from 7pm, followed by a two-course dinner. Delegates and partners pay just $175 for a wonderful evening of entertainment, including photo opportunities and music guaranteed to get you up on the dance floor.
