AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ now available for admission

18 Oct 2022

This week, the AVA is launching the AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ (AVA CVP). This accreditation program aims to create a widely-accepted mark of excellence in the veterinary profession that is recognised by veterinary professionals and the general public. AVA CVP accreditation signifies that the veterinarian has undertaken further education to become a well-rounded small animal practitioner. The reputation of AVA CVP accreditation will be solidified by an AVA-led public awareness campaign which will allow pet owners to understand the tangible benefits of consulting with an AVA CVP-accredited veterinarian.

In preparation for AVA CVP accreditation, veterinarians will engage with the AVA CVP Education Pathway and approved structured continuing professional development training in areas of interest to them.

The AVA CVP education pathway content is developed and led by a team of educators from both specialist and general practice backgrounds and can be completed across two years. In an industry-first initiative, the AVA CVP provides a holistic experience, focusing not only on clinical skills, but the development of personal and professional skills to help veterinarians maintain well-being and promote positive workplace environments. This will be complemented by practical and didactic learning designed to enhance clinical skills, critical thinking and evidence-based practice – thus optimising patient care and One Health.

The AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ is offered initially for small animal practitioners. Limited places are available for the 2023 cohort, so register early to avoid missing out.
