AVA Members can now access popular webinar ‘Exploring unusual opportunities in mixed practice’
27 Feb 2025
A webinar, previously only free for Special Interest Group (SIG), Sheep Camelid Goat Veterinarians (SCGV), is now available for all AVA members, through the AVA’s on demand webinar platform.
Presented by Dr Catherine Harper, the webinar received overwhelmingly positive feedback for its interesting and feel-good content that would resonate with members across all fields.
In the ‘Exploring unusual opportunities in mixed practice’ webinar, Dr Harper shares her unique experiences as a mixed practice veterinarian, including her work training sheep for the Adelaide Festival, working with schools, volunteering during natural disasters, and collaborating with research institutes.
She emphasised the importance of community involvement, continuous learning, and maintaining a positive mindset towards on-call duties. Catherine encouraged veterinarians to seek out unique opportunities to keep their work interesting and impactful.
Dr Harper is a senior veterinarian and clinical lead at Barossa Veterinary Service, a practice she purchased in 2016. She began her career in the Barossa Valley and values the rural lifestyle and community connections. Catherine is dedicated to continuous learning and is the first student to complete the AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner (CVP) Program.
