The AVA is pleased to announce Professor Margaret Reilly has been appointed to the AVA Board, filling a casual vacancy.
Prof Reilly, currently the Professor of Practice (Veterinary Science) at James Cook University, brings extensive experience and deep connections within the profession, government and industry. At JCU she manages the external relationships with the profession, the provision of continuing education by the veterinary discipline and teaches veterinary business management to undergraduate veterinary science students.
“I am delighted to be joining my colleagues on the AVA Board. I look forward to contributing to our wonderful profession in this new role,” Prof Reilly said.
A dedicated member of the AVA, Prof Reilly has served in numerous leadership roles, including Division and Branch President, and has been actively involved in key committees including the AVA Advocacy Advisory Committee and AVBC Sustainable Practice Committee. 2024 AVA Conference attendees may recall Prof Reilly was the Queensland representative on the Veterinary Services Board panel ‘Myths and Minefields’.
In addition to her academic contributions, Prof Reilly has extensive board experience and her broad work background, which includes 13 years as a practice owner in Townsville, will bring a deep understanding of veterinarians and the industry, in addition to corporate, clinical and academic governance.
