E.canis – more cases confirmed in North Queensland
10 Jan 2023Multiple cases of E. canis have been diagnosed in late December 2022 by Biosecurity Queensland in the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council. As there is a lot of movement of people and dogs at this time of year, the disease may spread quickly and become endemic across Cape York.
Veterinarians across Queensland are encouraged to be vigilant for the symptoms of canine ehrlichiosis and encourage appropriate tick control measures in dog populations. An information sheet for veterinarians from DAFF is available as well as other resources on the AVA website.
