Emergency Animal Disease Veterinary Summit 2022
20 Sep 2022
To help prepare the profession for a possible EAD incursion, the Australian Cattle Veterinarians are hosting a cross-sectoral EAD veterinary summit on 30 November to 1 December 2022. With the current EAD threats to Australia we believe it is prudent for vets from all industries to meet, share and learn about the very latest EAD information and the role veterinarians play in responding to an incursion.
The first day starts with Australian Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO), Dr Mark Schipp, opening the two-day program, followed by industry updates from the dairy, red meat and pork sectors. State CVOs will be participating in a panel along with our National Animal Disease Preparedness Coordinator, Dr Chris Parker, providing delegates with an opportunity to discuss relevant key points and ask questions.
With presentations from private practitioners, Animal Health Australia and the Australian Animal Health Laboratory, the program has been designed to include all aspects of EADs including foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, African swine fever, Japanese encephalitis and ehrlichiosis.
This is a great opportunity for veterinarians from all sectors of the profession – those routinely working with production animals, those in rural mixed practice and those working in peri-urban areas – to join us for this unique event.
In addition to the EAD veterinary summit there are a number of resources that have been developed by the AVA and other agencies to assist in providing information around foot-and-mouth disease and lumpy skin disease, These pages are kept updated as information comes to hand. We will also continue to keep AVA members informed regarding our advocacy in this space.
