National Lumpy Skin Action plan released

14 Oct 2022

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator the Hon Murray Watt, released Australia’s first National Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) Action Plan on 13 October 2022.

The plan, developed through extensive engagement with government, industry and other stakeholders, sets out national priorities for actions to strengthen Australia’s LSD biosecurity, preparedness (including market access), response and recovery. It outlines what systems need to be strengthened or established to support Australia’s cattle industries and effectively manage the risk of LSD.

The AVA and the Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV) Group have been involved in the workshops that led to the development of the plan, and are listed as key stakeholders to be involved in the action plan finalisation and implementation. The plan can be found here.
