AVA Annual Conference 2023 – learn the latest on integrative therapies in the acupuncture stream!

Running on the Tuesday and the Thursday of the conference, the acupuncture stream features your favourite speakers: Barbara Fougere, Mathew Muir and Elaine Cebuliak.

Seeking skills to put into practice immediately? Attend the Friday workshop to learn how to complement acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicines.

Dr Barbara Fougere will explain moxibustion, and the evidence base supporting its use in veterinary patients. She will also introduce a selection of herbal treatments, including xiao chai hu tang for cancer, xiao yao san combined with acupuncture for analgesia, and si miao san combined with acupuncture for the management of inflammatory disorders.

Dr Elaine Cebuliak will introduce ten acupuncture points you can start using as soon as you’re back home, the acupuncture dental map and balance technique.

Dr Mathew Muir will discuss acupuncture and the gut-brain axis, as well as the use of acupuncture for cancer care.

Earn 5 additional CPD points by attending the Getting Started with Chinese Herbs for Veterinary Acupuncturists on Friday June 2. Presented by Dr Barbara Fougere, this workshop shows how traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can complement acupuncture to improve clinical outcomes for your patients.

Dr Fougere, who has been using TCM for over 25 years, will share her approach to common gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic disorders.

You will learn how about the safety and efficacy of a small range of classic traditional Chinese medicine formulas. After completing this workshop, you will be able to use these formulas.
