The Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures promises to be the biggest week of equine veterinary continuing education in the Southern Hemisphere, with a program packed full of cutting-edge equine science. This year sees the return of international keynote speakers with Tim Mair (UK), specialist in Equine Internal Medicine and Equine Soft Tissue Surgery and Associate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Tracey Turner (USA), specialist in Veterinary Surgery and Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation providing delegates with the latest research on colic and lameness. They will be joined by joint local keynotes Wendy Goodwin and Jo Rainger giving delegates the latest updates in anaesthesia.
Local experts will present the latest research in the Clinical Papers session on Monday, and a range of practical topics in the ‘how to’ sessions on Tuesday afternoon.
Vet-Farrier workshop returns on 15 to 16 July, with lectures on Saturday at the Novotel focusing on laminitis, hoof conformation and the diagnosis of lameness and laminitis. On Sunday we move to Kilcoy Racecourse for the practical sessions, with case presentations for diagnosis and shoeing the lame horse. Also returning this year is the popular nurse conference on Thursday 20 July where local experts will take nurses and technicians through topics such as pre- and post-operative care for colic, radiology, field anaesthesia, the nurses’ role in lameness examination and more.
It is not Bain Fallon without the chance to connect and network at one of the many social events across the week, whether is it the Tuesday party night, Wednesday Young Members’ Dinner or the Thursday Gala Dinner with a Wild, Wild West theme.
The Sunshine Coast is the perfect place to escape in winter. Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, located in Twin Waters, sits on a pristine beachfront set amongst 36 hectares of natural bushland fronted by a private beach-lined lagoon, and is only a ten-minute drive from Sunshine Coast Airport.
All early bird registrations go into a weekly prize draw – one bottle of Bollinger Champagne is up for grabs each week! There are also special deep-discount Young Member offers available on registration and accommodation. Don’t miss out. Register now!
