• Dr Debbie Eagles (Deputy Director, Australian Animal Health Laboratory, Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness, CSIRO) will discuss African horse sickness virus (AHSV) and how to better understand the disease and the biological vectors that carry the disease.
• Dr Ed Annand (Senior Research Officer, Epidemiology and One Health Section, DAWE) will discuss how horses can act as sentinels for emerging infectious disease research. He will cover the integration of disciplines and perspectives to tackle One Health disease threats early, and the discovery of the Hendra virus variant.
• Dr Dan Edson (Program Manager, Pacific Engagement, Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer, DAWE) will discuss Japanese Encephalitis Virus – what is it, are Australian horses really in danger and how is Australia responding to the threat?
