As a member of WSAVA, the AVA would like to alert members to a free webinar hosted by WSAVA’s Therapeutic Guidelines Group (TGG), entitled ‘How to Optimize your Antibiotic Use’. This webinar coincides with World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18-24 November).

Date: Wednesday, 23 November 2022

Time (AEDT): 9:00pm - 10:30pm

Location: online (Zoom)

Speakers include:

  • Dr Luca Guardabassi, TGG Co-Chair and Professor of One Health AMR at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, discussing why some MRSP infections can be treated successfully with cephalexin
  • Dr Anette Loeffler, Associate Professor of Veterinary Dermatology at the Royal Veterinary College, UK, discussing ‘Canine superficial pyoderma: Yes, topical antibacterial therapy can work on its own!’

The webinar will be moderated by AVA and TGG member Dr Stephen Page, Director of Advanced Veterinary Therapeutics, Sydney, Australia, and will include a panel discussion.

The TGG works to develop global best practice for the selection and use of veterinary medicines, including their quality, availability and responsible use in companion animals, with the participation of WSAVA members and wider stakeholders under the concept of One Health. The TGG works closely with the ESCMID Study Group for Veterinary Microbiology, the European Network for Optimization of Veterinary Antimicrobial Treatment and the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases.
