Speaker information
Cass Wittwer graduated from the University of Queensland three times. The first was with a science degree, then Honours in Parasitology, and finally and most happily with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2002. After seven years of private mixed and smallies practice in rural South Australia, United Kingdom, northern NSW and Brisbane, she developed the seven year itch to explore new horizons, landing a job well outside her comfort zone as a federal government veterinary officer in Broome WA, on a 12-month trial. Twelve years later, her role has ranged from inspecting and certifying cattle for live export, managing an exotic disease surveillance program across the Kimberley, obtaining aerial shooting qualifications, and travelling to neighbouring countries to assist with their biosecurity capacity development. Just goes to show sometimes it's worth pushing past the comfort zone!
