Are you the next SA Division Policy Councillor?
31 Aug 2023The SA Division is looking for its next representative to the AVA Policy Advisory Council (PAC). This role will see you help shape the AVA policies that guide members and the organisation’s advocacy activity.
Part of the role of the Policy Councillors is to consult with their nominating Division or Special Interest Group and bring the outcomes of that consultation back to the Council for consideration. Policy Councilors represent their groups at the annual face to face PAC meeting in May, and at the November online decision-point; both of these meetings require that PAC members vote on the fate of individual policies under development or review. Policy Councilors also have a key role as members of working groups to collaborate to draft or revise AVA policies.
Being a Policy Councillor is a great opportunity to have direct influence and input into AVA’s policy development; these policies help to underpin AVA’s advocacy work and to shape the environment in which the veterinary profession works.
The term of the role is three years. The Division’s current Policy Councillor, Dr Wendy Hamood is very happy to help whoever takes on the role in learning the role.
To learn more about the role, or apply, please contact graham.pratt@ava.com.au and to learn more about the policy making process, please see the AVA website.
