Call for Expressions of Interest: WVA Elections 2026

16 Oct 2025

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) invites veterinarians to express interest in being nominated by the AVA for the upcoming World Veterinary Association (WVA) Elections 2026.

Positions include:

  • President-Elect
  • Councillor for the Asia and Oceana region

These positions are vital to the continued growth and leadership of the WVA.

What is the WVA and Why It Matters

The World Veterinary Association is the internationally recognised voice of the veterinary profession. It brings together national veterinary associations, regional and international organisations, and discipline-centred groups to promote animal health and welfare, public health, and the advancement of veterinary science globally.

The WVA plays a critical role in shaping international veterinary policy, advocating for science-based approaches to global challenges such as zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and climate change. It also supports veterinary education, professional development, and collaboration across borders.

Serving on the WVA Council or as President-Elect offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the global veterinary community, influence international policy, and represent the interests of Australian veterinarians on the world stage.
