Consultation – AVA QLD 2024 State Election Platform
06 May 2024The AVA is calling upon QLD AVA members to collaborate in crafting a AVA QLD Election platform that will reflect veterinary requirements and the challenges experienced by QLD veterinarians.
The AVA 2024 QLD Election Platform will serve as the cornerstone for our advocacy efforts leading up to the October 2024 election in Queensland. This AVA QLD Election Platform will guide our engagements with key Ministers, Shadow Ministers, and MPs, ensuring that veterinary priorities are effectively communicated and championed.
The AVA QLD Division Committee have identified the following priorities to address in the QLD 2024 Election and welcomes QLD AVA Members input on these and what else could be considered:
- Increasing Biosecurity support for Emergency Animal Diseases (EAD)
- Veterinary Student and New Graduate supports – Build and Retain the Veterinary Workforce
- Rural & Regional Veterinary Workforce
- Value of Vets including support for the provision of public good by the veterinary profession - Biosecurity, Disasters, Wildlife, etc
- Increased funding for QLD Government Veterinary Positions especially in relation to emerging or exotic diseases, biosecurity, and AMR
