EOIs for the AVBC Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee (VSAAC)
01 May 2025The AVA is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) to represent the association on the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee (VSAAC).
AVA Members are invited to submit an EOI of no more than 500 words outlining their interest in the role, along with a current CV , and any declarations of interests. Please send your EOI to Liz.Gemes@ava.com.au by Tuesday, 20 May 2025.
Details about the Role
- Term – 3 years.
- Meetings – VSAAC meets twice per year. One virtual and one face-to-face meeting per year.
- Representatives will be entitled to claim a small annual honorarium.
About VSAAC
Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee Purpose and Responsibilities include:
- Advise the AVBC on accreditation matters including criteria for the education standards necessary for graduates to be acceptable to the registering authorities, the profession and the community within Australia and New Zealand;
- Define standards necessary to ensure recognition within Australia and New Zealand for graduates from veterinary schools in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and South Africa;
- Report to each annual general meeting of the AVBC and offer comment on trends and needs in veterinary education;
- Monitor performance of accredited schools’ graduates in their early professional career, and in this respect, liaise with other bodies and agencies as appropriate;
- Report on matters referred to it by the AVBC.
