Integrative Veterinarians Australia Research Bursary closes 30 October

Applications are closing on Wednesday 30 October for the Integrative Veterinarians Australia (IVA) Research Bursary.
The AVA special interest group is offering $1,000 to support projects, research and science-based communications related to integrative medicine. It has been designed to encourage innovation and research that helps inform the wider veterinary community about complementary therapies and their efficacy.
The 2023 recipient conducted research into copper oxide wire particle used in Australian goats, while the 2022 recipient presented an overview of advances in integrative veterinary oncology for companion pets.
Applications will be assessed by ‘the panel’ formed by the IVA executive on the following:
- Aim of research / project and presentation
- Methods of acquiring information/data etc.
- Summary of outcomes expected
- Practical application of methods discussed in the presentation
Applications must address complementary therapy and support the Position Statement of IVA.
Scope includes but is not limited to practical application of therapies in practice, research, ecology, case studies and treatment protocols and education.
A presentation as media, poster, paper or webinar would be approximately 2,000 words or 10 minutes duration and could:
- Relate to experiences or studies undertaken
- Present interesting and important information relevant to integrative medicine
The bursary is open to all veterinary practitioners, researchers, and students at Australian universities. The successful applicant will deliver one of the following outcomes:
- Research and then a poster for the 2025 AVA Conference
- Research and them a one-hour webinar (or longer if desired)
- Any other project that meets the objectives of the bursary – we encourage innovation.
