International keynote speakers to shine at AVA Conference

This week, we’re spotlighting our international keynote speakers, Dr Sheilah Robertson and Dr Heidi Lobprise, who will be presenting a number of sessions across the 3 days of the conference.

Dr Sheilah Robertson

Last week, United States veterinarian Dr Sheilah Robertson was announced the winner of the prestigious Animal Welfare category of the 2024 World Veterinary Association Global Veterinary Awards. Dr Robertson was recognised for her achievements in advancing the welfare of animals via leadership, public service, education, research and advocacy. Her nomination was based on her lifelong work with companion animals and horses, both domestically and internationally.

Dr Robertson is the Senior Medical Director of Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice. In this role, she supports over 300 veterinarians throughout the US by providing the latest information on pain management, geriatric and end of life care.

At AVA Conference, Dr Robertson will present on the following topics:

  • Managing long term pain and mobility issues in dogs
  • Chronic Feline Gingivostomatitis – what’s the latest research saying?
  • Assessing quality of life in dogs and cats
  • Considerations for behavioural euthanasia
  • How to implement veterinary hospice and palliative care in your practice
  • End of care: euthanasia and aftercare

Dr Heidi Lobprise

United States veterinarian Dr Heidi Lobprise became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 1993. She is the author/co-author of three dental texts, including the third edition of Five-Minute Veterinary Consult – Clinical Companion Small Animal Dentistry, has written many chapters and articles on dentistry and senior care and has lectured internationally. She helped organise the SPA (Senior Pet Advocates) Initiative and serves on the Fear Free Advisory Board and the Grey Muzzle Advisory Board.

At AVA Conference, Dr Lobprise will present on the following topics:
