James Cook University Rural Practitioners Day – hands-on learning

The 2024 JCU VSA Rural Practitioners Day was a resounding success, marking the revival of this hands-on learning experience for veterinary students. Over 100 students participated in 7 diverse practical stations, each offering a unique and immersive experience. From equine gastroscopy to bovine eye and brain removal, and even a cassowary post-mortem, the event delivered a day full of valuable learning opportunities.
The AVA was proud to be a sponsor of the event and contribute to the day’s success, alongside members Dr Alex Rasmussen, Dr Chris Duke, Dr Ben Czerwonka-Ledez, Dr Courtney Perna, and Dr Graham Lauridsen who generously donated their time.
