Be Brave, Make Change – it’s National Reconciliation Week
03 Jun 2022
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2022 is ‘Be Brave. Make Change’, challenging all Australians – individuals, families, communities, organisations and government – to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.
At the national AVA conference last week, many conversations were had about the importance of diversity and inclusion, and how making conscious efforts in this area to create opportunities leads to a more vibrant and thriving veterinary profession.
The AVA is committed to developing a plan that will give the AVA a framework to contribute to improving the number and visibility of First Nations People in the veterinary community and helping all veterinarians develop closer relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Dr Bronwyn Orr, President of the AVA says, "I am strongly committed to taking the AVA on the journey of increased diversity and inclusion, especially as it relates to our First Nations People."
