New AVA climate change policy
16 Mar 2022On 10 March the AVA Board ratified the Climate change and animal health, welfare and production policy.
This is a significant update of the former position statement to a policy document which articulates a consensus view of the membership following extensive consultation. The new policy outlines the latest science on the topic, and provides clarity around the role of the profession in responding to and mitigating climate change impacts. The policy complements the AVA’s statement in our 2022 Election Platform, in which we call for implementation of sector-based emissions reduction transition strategies in consultation with the veterinary profession.
