For veterinary medicine students across Australia, placement scholarships open the door to exploration and opportunity. These programs provide a fantastic chance to see new parts of the country and uncover incredible, previously undiscovered career paths in veterinary practice.

Students are encouraged to follow the AVA’s dedicated student pages on social media (Facebook and Instagram ) for all the latest opportunities and news specifically for students.

Tasmania Student Travel Subsidy

The Student Travel Subsidy invites Australia’s future vets to say hello to Tasmania and create meaningful, lasting connections with its veterinary profession. This subsidy helps reduce the extra costs students face when completing clinical placements in Tasmania.

Eligible veterinary students can apply for a $1,500 subsidy to assist with travel and accommodation expenses. To apply, students must:

  • Be a current fifth or final-year veterinary student at an Australian veterinary school; and
  • Commit to completing 2 clinical work placements in Tasmania.

Funding is subject to an approval process and availability. The Veterinary Board of Tasmania may update its Veterinary Attraction and Retention Package strategy or approval process as needed to meet the intent of the grant.

Apply by downloading and completing the application form: VARP Strategy 2 Application Form – Student Travel Subsidy (PDF 148Kb).

Send the completed form, together with proof of veterinary school enrolment and clinical placement verification, to VARP@vetboardtas.org.au.
