Support our student members and become a clinical placement site
20 Dec 2024
Veterinary employers are encouraged to list their availability as clinical support supervisors, as many Australian Veterinary Exam (AVE) candidates begin the second round of their registration process through the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC).
By listing your practice as a clinical placement site, you contribute to the professional growth of AVE candidates, ensuring that the next generation of veterinarians is well-prepared for the demands of the profession. Supporting these candidates could also potentially connect you with individuals who may become valuable members of your team in the future.
AVE candidates in Australia are required to complete both theoretical and practical components before registration is approved, however, for many of them they need assistance in finding supportive practices.
As part of AVA’s workforce support initiatives, AVE candidates are supplied with complimentary student membership for academic resources, as well as an AVE Candidate Hub. AVE candidates can express their interest for clinical placement through the Hub and explore opportunities listed by employers.
How can veterinary clinics help?
Clinical Placement Site
- Employers can go to Career Connect and list their practice (at no cost) as a Student Clinical Placement. AVE candidates can see your posting for the next 30 days. Beyond that, you can continue to post reminders to remain visible.
Request AVE Candidate List
- Employers can contact our AVA Member Services Team members@ava.com.au for the list of AVE candidates to reach out to them individually.
Q&A
- Employers can contact us should you need any further information on how best to support AVE candidates.
This support not only benefits the candidates but also helps build a strong, well-prepared veterinary workforce.
